Removal of Wood Roofs &

Restrictions on Wood Siding

Ordinance No. 3636

All exposed wood shake or shingle roofs

must be removed by August 14, 2005

in the Mountain Fire Zone (Map).

All wood shake or shingle roofs, even those covered by layers of composition shingles, must be removed by August 14, 2012, in the City of Burbank.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

The Burbank Redevelopment Agency provides  homeowners assistance for wood roof replacement.  As of April 1, 2008, the program offers:

• Loans available up to $35,00 at a fixed rate of 3%.

• Grants are available up to $7,500 with no repayment.

 Eligibility for both programs is based on annual income, assets, total property indebtedness and type of work to be performed. For more information, please the Redevelopment Agency's website at:

The Burbank City Employees Credit Union has made low interest loans available for those affected by the Wood Roof Removal Ordinance. As of April 1, 2008, the terms include:

• Funding up to $25,000

• Maximum repayment term is 10 years

• 6.99% APY (rates subject to fluctuation)

• Homeowners insurance required

• Letter from City indicating roof must be replaced.
