Burbank's legacy as the "Media Capital of the World" is supported through the location of the world's largest media companies right here in town including the Walt Disney Company, Warner Bros., NBC Universal, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and ABC. In addition to three major studios, Burbank is home to 700 media-related companies including television networks, broadcasting companies and music labels.

The City of Burbank has a pro-business attitude reflected in its simple and competitive tax structure with no city income tax or gross receipts tax. Burbank operates its own police and fire service with response times among the fastest in Los Angeles County. Water and electric services are managed through Burbank Water and Power (BWP), which boasts exceptional electrical reliability performing 300% to 500% better than California's three investor-owned utilities.
