What is this program about?

The Burbank City Council has created a program whereby Burbank residents may purchase a personal shopping cart and receive a rebate of 50% of the cost of the cart (up to a maximum of $20.00).  This program will work in conjunction with the Shopping Cart Containment Ordinance to help alleviate the problem of shopping carts being removed from businesses which become abandoned throughout the city.

Who is eligible for the rebate?

Burbank residents are eligible for the rebate.  You must provide proof of residency at the time you apply for a rebate.  Proof of residency could be in the form of a Burbank Water and Power utility bill; driver license, voter registration card or similar documentation with a valid Burbank residence address.  Non-residential locations and post office box rental addresses are not acceptable. You must also provide the original receipt for your cart purchased on or after September 23, 2007. Only one rebate per household (residence) is allowed.

When does the program end?

The program began on September 23, 2007 and ends after one year or when funding for the rebate program runs out, whichever occurs first.

What type of cart may I purchase?

You may purchase any type of personal shopping cart from the merchant of your choice.  Carts are not available for purchase from the City of Burbank.

When will I receive my rebate?

You should receive your rebate within 8-10 weeks after you submit a rebate application.

Where do I apply for the rebate?

You may apply at the License and Code Services Division located at 333 East Olive Avenue.
