Community Meetings to Discuss Possible Changes to
Standards
The City of Burbank hosted two community meetings on May 7 and May 15,
2008 to discuss possible changes to the standards for fences, walls, and
landscaping in residential zones. These possible changes are based upon
the recommendations of the Blue Ribbon Task Force. The Planning Board

Interim Fence Standards Information and Documents
In February 2006, the Burbank City Council adopted interim standards for fences, walls, and landscaping in residential zones. The ordinance included increasing the allowable height of fences and walls within front and street side yards and increasing the allowable height of hedges in all yards. The ordinance also created new discretionary permit processes to allow for exceptions to the standards when appropriate, and a tiered enforcement program to allow abeyance of enforcement actions for certain non-conforming fences.
After adoption, the City Council appointed a Blue Ribbon Task Force to examine how the standards and related processes are working in practice and seek community input on any desired changes to the standards. The City Council would consider the recommendations of the Task Force and decide what changes to make and whether to adopt the interim standards as permanent.» view the ordinance adopted by the Council including the full text of the interim fence standards
