Housing
The Burbank Redevelopment Agency is involved in several aspects of providing affordable housing.
The affordable housing programs are implemented through the administration of the Federal Section 8 Rental Assistance Program by the Burbank Housing Authority and through the Housing and Redevelopment Division which uses 20 percent of the Agency's annual tax increment to facilitate the creation of new affordable housing units.
In an effort to meet the affordable housing needs of the community, the Redevelopment Agency, through Housing and Redevelopment staff, has played a vital role and is committed to providing a variety of affordable housing projects and programs.
These projects and programs will expand affordable housing opportunities to very low, low, and moderate-income families and provide affordable and accessible housing for special needs populations including larger families, seniors and people with disabilities throughout the City.
PRIMARY OBJECTIVES:
- Implement focus neighborhood acquisition strategy to acquire and rehabilitate affordable rental housing.
- Expand the Citywide Residential Rehabilitation Program to accommodate larger households.
- Continue to develop senior and family housing developments.
- Develop affordable ownership housing opportunities.
- Administer Federal Section 8 Assistance Program
