Neighborhood Improvement
Over the past ten years, the City of Burbank and the Burbank Redevelopment Agency (Agency) have taken a proactive approach to neighborhood revitalization through its partnership with the Burbank Housing Corporation for the development of affordable housing, and with making broader neighborhood enhancement investments. These broader neighborhood enhancements include:
- Infrastructure such as streets, curbs, gutters, and sidewalks
- New street lighting
- Heightened code enforcement and
- Community education
In addition to providing affordable housing throughout the community center, the focus of the Burbank Housing Corporation is to develop neighborhood-based family resource centers that provide workshops and programming for an enriched living environment. Through this partnership with the Burbank Housing Corporation, the City of Burbank and Burbank Redevelopment agency have improved the living conditions of residents in the following neighborhoods:
- Elmwood Focus Neighborhood
- Verdugo-Lake Focus Neighborhood
- Golden State Focus Neighborhood
- Peyton-Grismer Focus Neighborhood and
- Lake-Alameda Focus Neighborhood
